CANFIELD - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church for Patricia "Patty" Remias, 60, who died Sunday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Patty was born July 18, 1954, in Youngstown, to Edward and Theresa (Gombida) Oravec.
She was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and began her career as a machine operator for General Electric. Patty worked for the City of Canfield as a police dispatcher for 27 years until retiring in May of 2014.
Patty was a member of St. Michael Church, Ohio Right to Read, Canfield Community Care Net, and a transient aid coordinator for the Canfield Police Department. She was also a Eucharistic minister and a secretary for the Canfield Junior Women's League. Patty would also volunteer her time at Fellows Riverside Garden.
Patty is survived by her husband, Howard Remias, whom she married on Dec. 18, 1980; her son, Jason (Sara) Bennett of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Julie (John) Raad of Orlando; a stepson, Mark (Jennifer) Remias of Debary, Fla.; a brother, Jeffrey E. (Terry) Oravec of Woodstock, Ga.; a beloved aunt, Florence Luginbill of Poland; and three grandchildren, Carson Bennett and Jenna and Julia Raad.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
