CANFIELD - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, with the Rev. John M. Jerek as celebrant, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Mrs. Patricia Ann Santangelo, 82 who passed away on Sunday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mrs. Santangelo was the matriarch of her family. She was a loving wife to her husband, Joseph, and a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She was born on Dec. 11, 1933, in Youngstown, daughter of James and Mary (Gall) Battaglia, and was a lifelong area resident.
Patricia graduated from East High School, and later attended classes at Youngstown College, which is now Youngstown State University.
She was a homemaker, and family was most important. She loved to cook homemade pasta and sauce for family gatherings. She also loved to read, and listen to music, especially Elvis, or her grandson, Andrew who played the piano for the family at Sunday gatherings.
Vacationing was also a big passion for Patricia. Her and her husband, Joe, loved to cruise, having gone on many cruises, to many different places together. Patricia married the love of her life, Joseph Santangelo on Oct. 22, 1955. They spent 60 wonderful years together, and their memories will live on in everyone's hearts that they touched.
Besides Joe, Patricia will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by her two children, Vincent (Christine) Santangelo and Antonia "Toni" (David) Crans, both of Canfield; and five grandchildren, Carissa, Craig, and Kelsey Santangelo, and Andrew and Alexandria Crans.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Battaglia; sister Frances Battaglia; brother Anthony Battaglia; and aunt Anna Cara.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Patricia will be laid to eternal rest at Calvary Cemetery, in Youngstown, following the Mass. Patricia's family would like to send their heartfelt gratitude to Omni Manor for their compassionate care of Patricia over the past two and one half years.
