BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church in Canfield for Patricia J. Turek, 77, who died Sunday evening at the Hospice House. As in her life, her death was on her terms.
Patricia was born Oct. 17, 1937, the daughter of Dominic and Mary (Dionisio) Leone.
She was a 1955 graduate of Ursuline High School and later earned her RN credentials from the Mercy School of Nursing in Canton. She began her nursing career at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She then worked in the office of Drs. Evans, Ruth and Gregg before continuing her education in the late 70s at Youngstown State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her next accomplishment was as a clinical nursing instructor for the ASN nursing program at YSU. Her final nursing position was in quality assurance with Southside Medical Center, before retiring in 1991.
Her husband, George E. Turek, whom she married April 28, 1962, died April 6, 2008.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Gina M. (Ed) Biondillo of North Lima; two granddaughters, Bianca Marie and Dominique Marie Biondillo; two brothers, Thomas (Carol) Leone of North Lima and Joseph (Delores) Leone of Houston; one nephew; three nieces; and numerous cousins, friends and great neighbors.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald (Virginia) Leone.
In addition to Patty's career accomplishments, she especially enjoyed sharing time and good meals with her family, warm breezes and sunshine on her face.
Mrs. Turek's family would like to share their gratitude for the Mercy Health family, St. Elizabeth Health Center, Assumption Village and Hospice House for their professional and compassionate care for Patricia. "You are all angels."
Patty requested that the guests at her service refrain from wearing somber black. She prefers the colors of spring.
Friends may call Thursday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Michael Church in Canfield.
Professional arrangements are by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
