YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Presbyterian Church for Patricia “Pati” A. (Haddle) Kohut, 58, who gained peace Tuesday morning at home surrounded by her family after a brave three and a half year journey of being a cancer warrior.
Pati was born Oct. 3, 1960, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Carl and Mary (Stirk) Haddle Sr.
A 1978 graduate of Chaney High School, Patty married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, David Kohut, on May 14, 1982. Together they raise their two children.
She was a proud UAW member and worked for General Motors. She worked as a quality assurance technician for many years prior.
Pati cherished every single moment spent with her family and friends. Her contagious smile was known by many and even when facing cancer, her smile never ceased and could light up any room she walked into. Not only could Pati’s smile light up a room, her laugh was contagious. She believed love and laughter was the best medicine and found the positive to everything.
Her strength and love of life could be seen in her smile and heard in her laugh. No matter the weight she carried on her shoulders, she always would have the strength to hug those she loved, even strangers. She was always so proud and happy of the accomplishments of her family. Pati enjoyed watching her family grow and achieve their goals, including those who she was known to as “a second mom.”
Patty enjoyed spending time with her family and truly treasured each day as a gift.
She was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church and very strong in her faith. Pati would always say, “God is good.”
Although she will be missed tremendously, Pati‘s memory will always be carried in the hearts of her family, including her husband David Kohut of Youngstown; daughter Tiffani (Steve) Tucci of Poland; Jacob Kohut (Sarah) of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Dominic and Gabriella Tucci of Poland; and also her beloved grand “dogger”, Zoey, who she adored to the moon and back.
She loved her grandchildren and loved being “Grandma Gigi. ”
Pati also leaves her brothers, whom she adored with all her heart and soul, Carl (Joanne) Haddle Jr. of Youngstown, Robert (Debbie) Haddle of Poland and Earl (Judy) Haddle of Boardman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved with all her heart and soul.
Family and friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Her family would like to thank all the staff and doctors at the Blood and Cancer Center in Canfield for all of their wonderful care during her brave journey and also would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for all of their exceptional love and care for Pati. A special thank you to her nurse Nikki for all her love and care.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to the family.
