BOARDMAN - Patrick E. Dougherty, 81, died Thursday afternoon at the Greenbriar Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 16, 1934, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Patrick and Rose (Necas) Dougherty.
Patrick was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War. He worked as a driver for Consolidated Freightway for 52 years until retiring.
Patrick is survived by his children, Michael (Cindy) Dougherty of Eden Prairie, Minn., Douglas Dougherty of Michigan, Debra Dougherty (Diane Martino) of Poland, and Marlyn (Jeannie) Dougherty of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lucille F. Walther, whom he married March 3, 1957, and who died May 22, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Minnesota.
Because of Patrick's love for animals, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Animal Charity, 4140 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
