YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Patrick Murphy, 75, who died Tuesday afternoon at Hospice House surrounded by his family.
Patrick was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph and Lucy (Hite) Murphy.
He was a 1960 graduate of Ursuline High School.
Patrick was a Mill Creek Metro Parks Police Officer for one year and then a Youngstown Police Officer for many years until retiring in 1993. After retiring, he worked for A.P. O'Horo as a laborer.
Patrick was a member of the Catholic War Vets, AOH Club, and Chaney's Gridiron Club.
In his spare time, Patrick enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, fishing and hunting. Most of all, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, of which he never missed a game.
He is survived by five daughters, Kathy (Dan) Lautner of Louisville, Ohio, Maureen (Tom) Turnbull of Youngstown, Mary (Dave) Arquilla of Poland, Colleen (Jerry) Ross of Youngstown, and Maggie (Mike) Pero of Youngstown; two sons, P.J. (Kathy) Murphy of Austintown and Joe (Diana) Murphy of Canfield; brother Bill Murphy of Canfield; and 12 grandchildren, Michael and Ryan Lautner, Andrew Turnbull, Jack Arquilla, Erin and Colin Murphy, A.J., David and Will Murphy, Emily and Danielle Ross and Matthew Womer
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter Mary Margaret Turnbull.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
