LORDSTOWN - Prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Paul H. Brode Sr., 81, who passed away Monday, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Paul was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Ravenna, a son of the late Raymond and Jennie (Skilton) Brode.
Paul attended South High School. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
He was a carpenter in the Carpenters Local 171 Union for over 60 years, retiring in 1992. Paul was also a member of the Men's Renewal Team at the Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Joseph Churches. He enjoyed gardening, woodwork and bird watching. The real love of Paul's life was his wife, Nancy and his loving family.
Paul leaves his wife of 58 years, the former Nancy Flynn, whom he married April 16, 1955; his eight children, Lisa Hlinka, with whom he made his home in Lordstown, Greg (Marilyn) Brode of Austintown, Lori (Robert Hutch) Brode of Austintown, Gary (Delane) Brode of Canfield, Shelley (John) Kotch of Austintown, Paul Brode Jr. of Youngstown, Melissa (David) Niebauer of Charlotte Hall, Md., and Amy (John) Vaught of Austintown; 14 grandchildren, James Hlinka Jr., Jaime Brode, Jessica Hutch, Gary Jr., Nathan and Dustin Brode, Chelsea, Alex, and Ian Kotch, Jacob and Troy Niebauer, and JD, Samantha and Jordan Vaught; three brothers, Leslie (Jackie) Brode of Liberty, Ronald (JoAnn) Brode of Boardman, and Gene Brode of Austintown; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Murphy of Canfield.
Paul was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Raymond Brode Jr.
Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association National Office, 255 N. Michigan Ave., F.L.17 Chicago, IL 60601, in honor of his wife, Nancy.
Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
