POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Church for Paul Richard Dennison, 89, who died early Wednesday morning at Shepherd of the Valley.
Paul was born April 29, 1927, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph and Rose (Fusco) Dennison.
He was a graduate of The Rayen School and served our country in the U.S. Coast Guard. After returning from the service, he and his father owned Dennison Coal and Paving for many years. Later he worked as sales manager for J.W. McCauley Co. before starting Richco Aluminum Railing. He retired after more than 25 years.
He was a very active member of St. Nicholas Christ Our Savior Church and a member of the Struthers VFW. Paul enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends, vacationing in Siesta Key, Fla., and often played racquet ball at the YMCA.
Paul was a movie buff, and enjoyed watching historical and country western movies. He also was an avid reader.
His wife, the former Ellen Rose Connor, whom he married Dec. 27, 1947, died Nov. 30, 2011.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Karen (Daniel) McGarry of Lowellville; two sons, Patrick (Gail) Dennison of Orlando, Fla. and Tim Dennison of Poland; six grandchildren, Ellen McGarry, Ashley Price, Evan Patrick Dennsion, Daniel Paul McGarry, Timothy Joe Dennison and Connor Patrick Dennison; and three great-grandchildren, Jack Patrick Price, Lincoln Price and Layla McGarry.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister Jean Gains; and brother Joe Dennison.
Family and friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Because Paul's faith had always been an important part of his life, material tributes may take the form of donations to Christ Our Savior Parish or to Hospice of the Valley.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
