Paul Hickson

March 14, 1952 — November 7, 2009

YOUNGSTOWN ? Paul David Hickson Sr. went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, Nov. 7, after a valiant battle with renal cancer.

He was born March 14, 1952, in Wadsworth, the son of the Rev. George A. Hickson Jr. and Winifred J. Hickson.

Paul graduated from Streetsboro High School in 1970 and went on to graduate from Nashville Auto-Diesel College in 1971. He graduated from Kent State University with a Transportation and Logistics Management degree and from Bowling Green State University with an MBA.

After working 12 years in the bus garage for Austintown Local Schools, Paul was recruited to work for Community Bus Services?his dream job for 22 years. He retired suddenly from the position of Vice President of Operations due to the progression of the cancer. He also enjoyed his six years as a volunteer firefighter for the Austintown Fire Department.

Paul was a Christian, and was a long-standing member of the First United Methodist Church of West Austintown. Paul recently attended the Old North Church in Canfield.

Paul enjoyed having fun in life, especially with his family, and the people he knew, even though he had a very black and white, objective approach to everything.

Paul is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Palmer Seifert, whom he persuaded to marry on Aug. 7, 1982; his mother, Winifred J. Hickson of Sebring; three children, Paul Lori Hickson Jr. of Iowa, Kristee Andy Huffman of Arizona and Julie Zach Vargo of Austintown; four grandchildren, Lorissa Jo and Lance Perry of Iowa and Davis Arthur and Grant Abraham of Arizona; his two favorite sisters, Cindy Gregg Robinson and Pam Jeff Stevenson; his niece, Hope Stevenson; his nephew Dr. Matt Noell Robinson; a great-niece, Riley Robinson; great-nephews, Bryce and Cody Robinson; and numerous cousins.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. George A. Hickson, Jr.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon, Austintown Chapel. Service will be held at the Old North Church at noon on Tuesday. Friends may also call one hour before services at the church.

Family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Old North Church, 7105 Herbert Road, Canfield, OH 44406 in Paul?s memory.
