STRUTHERS - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for Paul C. Palumbo, 90, who passed away early Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center with his family by his side.
Paul was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Youngstown, a son of the late Charles and Francis Palumbo.
Paul graduated from East High School in 1940, where he played football. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Army and served overseas during World War II.
He enjoyed training Beagle Hounds for field trials and owned many field champions. He was a member of he Mahoning, Trumbull and Shenango Valley Beagle Clubs.
Paul worked at Youngstown Manufacturing and Wean United for 30 years.
His greatest love was for his family and he loved family get togethers. He will be deeply missed.
Paul leaves his two sons, Charlie Sally Palumbo of Berlin Center and Frank Tommasina Palumbo, with whom he made his home in Struthers; three sisters, Francis Saculla of Canfield, Mary Marzano of Struthers and Concetta Cataland of Cleveland; six grandchildren, Mandy Palumbo, Tina Fred White, Darin Carrie Palumbo, Dean Katie Palumbo, Vito Palumbo and Chelsey Palumbo; two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Justin Palumbo; and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, the former Josephine Ferro and three brothers, Carl, Fred and Frank Palumbo.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
