AUSTINTOWN — Pauline Harris, 100, adored matriarch of the Harris family, peacefully passed away, Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Hospice House, surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Youngstown, the daughter of Vasyl and Eva Suseraba Hrynko.Pauline was a 1943 graduate of South High School. During the war, she proudly served as a “Rosie the Riveter.” Later in life, she worked for GE Electric and as an inventory specialist for RGIS. Her most important role though, was her role as a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her family. Pauline was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She devoted her time to the Altar and Rosary Society, the church’s senior citizen group and their senior citizen bowling league, and was a founding member of Families in Touch. Additionally, she volunteered tirelessly for the March of Dimes, embodying a spirit of selflessness and compassion.In her spare time, Pauline enjoyed her card club, “All Timers,” and playing bingo at the senior citizen center. Pauline will be dearly missed by her surviving family, including her children, Nancy (Dr. John) Maydak of Fernandina Beach, Florida; Alicia (Thomas) Mylott of Austintown; Cynthia (Anthony) Adduci of Austintown, with whom she made her home; Nicholas J .(Denise) Harris Jr. of North Jackson; Paulette Harris of Champion; Dean (Pam) Harris of Austintown; and Judy Anne (David) Danko of Girard; grandchildren, Emily Blasko (Jim Green), Amber MacPherson-Goins (Nick), Alaina (Will) Rauber, Meredith Mylott-Powers (Jim Powers), Jason Harris, Adam Harris, Kyle MacPherson (Kiley), Lauren Mylott, Dina (Ronnie) Williams, Amelia (Peter) Karousis, Ian (Lisa) Sun-MacPherson and Nicole (Patrick) Connolly; and great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Danielle, Deanna, James, Leonidas, Costantine, Ronnie III, Ariana, Skye and Giada, and Gabriella.She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Nicholas John Harris Sr., whom she married May 29, 1949, and who died Dec. 10, 2011; her daughter, Linda Welsh; sisters, Edna Harris and Eleanor Makara; and brothers, Peter (Mary), John (Mary), Charles (Mary), Michael (Nellie), Martin (Mary), Steve (Jean) and Alex (Betty).Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. Prayers will begin at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
