BOARDMAN-Services will be Monday at 9:30 AM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Boardman-Canfield Chapel and at 10:00 AM at St. Christine Church for Pauline E. Smith, 93, formerly of Boardman, who passed away Thursday at Assumption Nursing Home.
Pauline was born June 7, 1913, in Toronto, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Romey Rock.
Mrs. Smith came to this area in 1941. She worked as a buyer in the bridal department for Strouss Department Store, retiring after 30 years from Kaufman's. After her retirement she worked as a buyer for other companies. Pauline was an avid bridge player and was a member of the South Side Bridge Club and played three to four days a week. She was also a member of the American Business Woman's Association. She had formerly been an active member at St. Patrick Church, and was currently a member of St. Christine Church.
Her husband Pater C. Smith died June 14, 1945.
Pauline is survived by a daughter Rose Marie Frank Griffiths of Canfield; a son Gene P. Smith of Youngstown; a sister Peg Hazelip of Brilliant, Ohio; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, Pauline is preceded in death by two sisters Virginia and Mildred; and three brothers Joseph, John and Isadore.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
