AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church for Pete Joseph Anania, 76, who passed away Saturday at his home.
Pete was born June 29, 1940, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of the late Dominick and Theresa "Daisy" (Marano) Anania. He moved with his family to Youngstown, where he graduated from The Rayen School in 1958.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1962, he entered Youngstown State University, became a member of the Zeta Phi Fraternity, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Biology. Pete went on to teach in the Biology department of both Youngstown's Woodrow Wilson High School and Youngstown State University.
He was a member of both St. Joseph Church in Austintown and St. Dominic's Church in Youngstown. Through St. Joe's, he and his wife were active in the Engaged Couples Program, was also a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Serra Club.
In the summers, when he was off from school, he enjoyed painting with his dear friend, John Senzarin. He also enjoyed gardening and was known for his fig trees that he grew and would give out to family and friends.
Pete was a "jack of all trades," you can always count on him to fix practically anything. His greatest love was for his family and he will be deeply missed.
