NORTH LIMA - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Church in Columbiana for Peter Pietro Bucci, 78, who passed away Sunday morning at his home.
Peter was born July 8, 1931 in Roccaraso, Italy, the son of Vittorio and Assunta DiBattista Bucci. He immigrated to the United States in 1956.
Peter was employed by the Cement Mason Local No. 179 for over 40 years. He was a member of the Arco Club and a former member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 858 and Lodge 2539. He was also a committee member of St. Ippolito's picnic. Peter was a member of St. Jude Church. He enjoyed playing bocce, gardening and farming.
Peter's greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.
Peter leaves his wife, the former Gina Giardini, whom he married April 13, 1958; his three children, Victor Marcy Bucci of Atlanta, Deborah Frank Giardini of Downingtown, Pa. and Denise Dale Varner of Northfield Center; 12 grandchildren; seven brothers; sisters, all of Italy; and several nieces and nephews.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers.
The family will be receiving friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Jude Church, 180 7th St., Columbiana, OH 44408.
Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
The family request that material tributes take the form of donations to the CJD Foundation, P.O. Box 5312, Akron, OH 44334.
