Youngstown - There will be service Monday at 8:30 AM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and at 9 AM at St. Brendan Church for Peter G. Finamore Sr., 79, who passed away early Friday morning at the Hospice House.
Pete was born May 5, 1927, in Youngstown, a son of Archie and Filomena Marsano Finamore.
Pete was a graduate of Ursuline High School. Pete played football for Ursuline, earning All-City honors in 1945 and All-County All-Center in 1946 & 1947. Pete was affectionately known as "Handsome" by the girls and "Jesse" by the boys. He was a member of the "Ursuline Eleven". He was inducted into the Ursuline All Sports Hall of Fame in 1978.
Pete was a school teacher, earning his Bachelor's Degree on a football scholarship at Youngstown College, better known as YSU. He earned hi Master's Degree from Kent State University. Pete spent over 40 years in the classroom, mostly at Chaney, teaching mechanical drawing and wood shop. He also attended the YMCA and was a member of St. Brendan Church.
His wife the former Catherine M. Miller whom he married August 7, 1954, passed away January 25, 2005.
Pete leaves two sons Pete G. Robin Finamore Jr. of Youngstown, and Bruce Fiance Lisa Rima Finamore of Canfield, two grandchildren Christina John Frohman and Cameron Finamore; and two great grandchildren KyLeigh and Samantha.
Besides his parents and wife, Pete is preceded in death by a brother Edward Finamore.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
