POLAND A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church for Peter M. Tocco, 82, who passed away early Tuesday morning at his home.
Pete ³Red² was born Sept. 25, 1925 in Youngstown, the son of Peter J. and Violet Wagner Tocco.
Pete graduated from Austintown Fitch High School, where he played football, basketball and track. Pete served in the U.S. Navy in New Guinea, during WWII. While in the Navy, he played baseball in New Guinea. Pete was employed by Trimedge & International Paper in Youngstown, then later in Kalamazoo, Mich. for 34 years, where he retired as an assistant
plant superintendent in 1986.
Pete leaves his wife of 61 years, Irene Illes, whom he married Aug. 16, 1947; his children, Ken Peggy Tocco of Jacksonville, Fla., Paula Tom Reardon of Poland, Rich Tocco of Enid, Okla., and Tom Amy Tocco of
Kalamazoo; a brother, Jack Rose Tocco of Lambert, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, Alex, Beth, Matt, Josh, Katie, Jason, Justin, Nicholas, Lindsey, Zach, and
Madison; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Cameron, Jacob, and Preston.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bernard ³Bud² Tocco.
Friends may call today from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church.
