BOARDMAN-Services will be held Saturday at 10:00AM at St. Christine Church for Philip J. Colangelo age 69 of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of Youngstown who passed away Tuesday morning at the North Collier Hospital in Naples, Fla. after a brief illness.
Philip was born July 24, 1937, in Youngstown, the son of Gene and Francis Kerr Colangelo.
After graduating from Youngstown East High School, Phil served in the Army's 11th Division of the 1st Airborn battle group in Ausburg, Germany. After his service to our country Mr. Colangelo returned home to serve on the Youngstown Police Department for over 25 years, and also served as the Health and Welfare Administrator of the Teamsters Union Local # 377 for over 30 years before retiring. Phil had also been the owner operator of several area establishments, most notably Gino's Drive Thru and Lounge. He was an avid golfer and sports fan, and especially enjoyed baseball and cheering for his beloved Boston Red Sox.
Philip's wife the former Mary Ann Litavetz whom he married April 15, 1961, passed away March 5, 2002.
He is survived by his four daughters; Michele Michael Tamarkin of Columbus, Ohio, Coni John Mitchell of Youngstown, OH, Leslie Mark Worsencroft of Boardman, and Chrissy Dave Blasko of Boardman, his son Gino Candy Colangelo of Cincinnati, OH, and eleven grandchildren; Lauren, Alicia, and Matthew Tamarkin, Hannah and Haley Mitchell, Emma and Josiah Worsencroft, Samantha and Nicholas Blasko, and Mary Ann and Sophia Colangelo. Phil will also be sadly missed by his friend Patricia Guerrieri.
