NEW FRANKEN, WIS. - Prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Philomena Pellitta Liguore, 88, formerly of Poland, who peacefully passed into eternal life on Oct. 26, 2009, at Anna's House in New Franken.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1920, in Rotondella Matera, Italy, the daughter of Guiseppe Pellitta and Maria Fortunato Pellitta.
On July 20, 1944, she married the love of her life, Harry E. Liguore. They were married for 55 years and shared the love of music, dancing and large family gatherings filled with laughter and her unmatched Italian cooking.
She attended the Youngstown College of Business, was a photographer, and operated Liguore Studio of Photography from the late 1960s until her retirement in 1984.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart League and the Legion of Mary and served as a Eucharistic Minister at both St. Patrick Church in Youngstown and the Holy Family Parish in Poland.
Philomena was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harry; a sister, Terri Melnick; and two brothers, Antonio and Joseph Pellitta.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Harry Liguore Adrianne of El Paso, Texas, Louis Liguore Loretta of Poland and Attorney Maryann Liguore Dr. Vladimir Swerchowsky of Denmark, Wis.; her brother-in-law, Al Melnick Olga; her 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
