YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Pio "Tucker" J. Zone, 88, who passed away Monday at Meridian Arms.
Pio was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Youngstown, the son of the late Tony and Antonette Vechiarella Zone.
Pio graduated from The Rayen School. He served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Corp from 1943 to 1946.
Pio was a pipe fitter for General Motors in Lordstown. He enjoyed bingo, traveling, golfing and spending time doing many activities with "The Gang."
His wife, the former Rose "Chickie" A. Candela, whom he married April 17, 1948, passed away Oct. 29, 1997.
Pio leaves his daughter, Ruth Ann Shaw of Youngstown; his son, James Nancy Zone of Youngstown; a sister, Stella Zone of Youngstown; a brother, Tony "Spike" Zone of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Kara McElhinny, Amanda Troy Bornhorst, Anthony fiancee Nicole Zone, and Bryan Julie Shaw; and six great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Rian McElhinny, Brynn Bornhorst, Jayna, Bryan and Brandon Shaw.
Besides his parents and wife, Pio was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Marie Zone; and a brother, Frank Zone.
