Raymond Dibble

October 9, 1928 — November 26, 2018

YOUNGSTOWN – Raymond G. Dibble, 90, passed away on Monday evening, Nov. 26, at his home in Boardman.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.

Ray was born Oct. 9, 1928, in Youngstown, a son of the late Earl and Stella (Shilling) Dibble.

He was a 1946 graduate of East High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Knox.  During his career, Ray was a senior executive with Easco Aluminum, in Girard.  He was a member of the Saxon Club and enjoyed his many years as a member of the club’s bocce team.  Ray was a member at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. For many years, he played fast pitch softball in the local church league.

He enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends.  A passionate football fan, Ray enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and the YSU Penguins; and he never gave up hope that one-day the Browns would return to top of the NFL.

A story that he was never tired of sharing, is the story of how he met the love of his life.  Ray and his wife, the former Barbara McKinley, met 72 years ago in Youngstown.  Ray’s family moved into the house right next to the house where Barbara’s family lived. Same street, but different high schools, so they would walk down their driveways each morning during the school year, with Barbara going to North High and Ray continuing to go to East High.  Four years after he first saw her, Ray married the girl next door, on April 28, 1950.  They enjoyed a long and happy marriage, travelling all over the world. They especially enjoyed spending snow-free winters at their home on Florida’s Gulf Coast, in Madeira Beach.  Barbara passed away on April 15, 2016, shortly before they would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

Ray is survived by a daughter, Lynne (Jim) Keeney of Boardman; four grandchildren, Sarah (Aaron) Gunn, Seth (Rachelle) Hart, and Garrett Hart, all of Houston, and Brady McCloud of Boardman; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Rae Hart and Gavin Richard Gunn, both of Houston; and many nieces and nephews, especially Sandy Wayland of Poland and Jill (Ted Sudol) Kastanek, of Harrisonburg, Va.

Ray was preceded in death by three children, Sheree Hart, Jeffrey Dibble, and Denise McCloud; two sisters, Dorothy Lalor and Virginia “Honey” Wayland; and a brother, Earl Dibble Jr.

Family and friends may call Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel .

The family invites those who wish to offer material tributes to do so by donations to the American Cancer Society, 525 N Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.
