Richard Craig

POLAND - Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for Richard C. Craig, 84, who passed away Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center Youngstown.

Richard was born June 11, 1932 in Youngstown, a son of the late Howard and Margaret (Davis) Craig.

Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, which he was very proud of. He worked in the open hearth at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 27 years and then drove bus for over 30 years for Struthers City Schools and Cardinal Mooney. Richard enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He had a passion for drag racing and always enjoyed watching his sons compete. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They would always put a smile on his face when they came to visit him.

His wife the former, Marilyn A. Sarna, whom he married Oct. 12, 1957 passed away Nov. 25, 1995.

Richard leaves his six children, Bill (Terri) Craig of Sheffield Village, Mark Craig of Poland, Lisa (Tom) Baringer of Poland, Mary Jo (Ken Friedl) Craig of Poland, Kim (Rich) Blankenship of Struthers, and Chris Craig of Poland; ten grandchildren, Matt (Louise), Shannon (Tim), Bruce, Kristy (Jim), Stephanie (Mike), Alyssa, Mark (Courtney), Alexis, Raeanna, and Gracie "Lil Mama"; six great grandchildren, Maggie, Jordan, Ella, Nathan, Elaina, and Isabella; a sister, Louisa DeMarsh of FL; and a brother, Roger Craig of SC.

Richard was also preceded in death by a sister Meme Mihalivec.

Family and friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Poland Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors.
