Richard O'Mellan

BOARDMAN - Services will be Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Richard A. "Rick" O'Mellan, 64, who died Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown after suffering a heart attack.
Richard was born May 5, 1948, in Youngstown, the son of Francis and Geraldine Eachus O'Mellan.
He was a 1966 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and later attended Youngstown State University. He had been currently working for the past nine years as the General Manager of NAMRED LLC. Rick enjoyed woodworking and was an avid poker player.
He is survived by his wife, the former Virginia Szalaj, whom he married May 15, 1971; two daughters, Jennifer O'Mellan and Stefanie O'Mellan of Boardman; a son, Richard J. Dana O'Mellan of Las Vegas; a sister, Deborah O'Mellan of Campbell; a brother, Kenneth Marilyn O'Mellan of South Carolina; and three grandchildren, Arriane and Sean O'Mellan and Jacob Poole.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
