POLAND — Rita Brenner, 88, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Hospice House.
She was born Sept. 20, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of William and Bertha Kessel Klein.
After Rita’s children were grown, Rita worked for JCPenney for 11 years until retiring. Her devotion and dedication to her loved ones was unparalleled and she always put their needs above everything else.
One of Rita’s most well-known qualities was her gift of gab. She possessed the extraordinary ability to strike up conversations with anyone she encountered. Whether it was sharing stories or discussing topics of interest, Rita found pleasure in engaging with others. Her genuine interest in people and their lives made her a cherished friend to many.
Outside of her family and social interactions, Rita had an array of hobbies that brought her immense joy. Gardening became one of her passions, particularly her sunflowers. Rita also loved crocheting. Her family and friends were fortunate recipients of her beautiful creations, which will forever be cherished.
Rita was a longtime member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where she was very active.
Rita married Lloyd Brenner Sr., Oct. 27, 1956, and built a lifetime of memories together until Lloyd’s passing, June 3, 2022.
Rita is survived by her loving children, William (Margaret) Brenner of Alamo, California; Robert (Cheryl) Brenner of Byrdstown, Tennessee; Michael (Tamra) Brenner of Reno, Nevada; Richard (Nancy) Brenner of Hubbard; and Karoline Brenner (Michael Sorensen) of Lake Wylie, South Carolina. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Nicole Brenner of Agoura Hills, California. Rita cherished her role as a grandmother and delighted in the presence of her 12 grandchildren, Nicholas, Robert, Marie, Erich, Aron, Kayla, Christian, Emma, Cole, Megan, Nathan and Karlie. Rita also was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her brother-in-law, George Goddard; as well as nieces and nephew, Lynn, Dawn and John.
She also was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Brenner Jr., and sister, Helen Goddard.
Family and friends may call Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 10 to 11 am at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, followed by a memorial service 11 am
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice House.
Arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
