Rita "Jane" Scanlon, 99, passed away at Hospice House in the early morning hours on Sunday, October 23, 2016 having been surrounded by family all weekend.
Jane was born on June 13, 1917 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Rapp.
Her husband, James "Bub" Scanlon, whom she married on November 27, 1947 died on December 18, 2008.
They raised their family in Boardman and retired to Hobe Sound, FL until his death whereupon she returned to the Youngstown area.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Pete) DuBois of Austintown with whom she made her home, Pat (Terry) Craven of Hagerstown, MD, Mary Jane Miller of Wooster, OH, and James (Gillian) Scanlon of Los Angeles, CA. She will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Mike (Ali) DuBois, Pat (Zoe) DuBois, Karly (Mike) Allen, Lisa (Ashley) Avery, Megan (Dan) McGraw, Liz, Kristy, Mike, Sarah Miller, Ruby Scanlon; and great-grandchildren, Mike, Matt, and Luke DuBois, Jack and Max DuBois, Noah Allen, Alex King and Reagan Avery, and Sydney and Violet McGraw.
Jane was also preceded in death by her brother, Harry Rapp, Jr.
At her request, there will be no memorial service. Donations in her honor can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
