Robert Ashford

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Robert G. Ashford I, 65, who died on Saturday at his residence.

Robert was born on April 19, 1953, in Youngstown, a son of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Paden) Ashford Sr.

He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War.

Robert worked as a truck driver for several years. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything, he enjoyed gardening, going on Poker Runs, shooting pool and playing bocce.

He leaves behind his wife, Cheryl (Gries) Ashford, whom he married on Oct. 22, 2005; his children, Lisa Ashford, Clyde (Tammy) Frondorf, Robert (Sandy) Ashford II, Christina Ashford, and Eric Ashford; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Debra (David) Mitchell; and brother, Richard Ashford Jr.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Tina and Jamie.

Family and friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take form of donation in care of the funeral home to assist the family at this time.
