AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Robert J. Davis, 74, who passed away late Saturday evening at Hospice House.
Robert was born Nov. 1, 1937, in Poland, a son of the late Arthur and Viola Miles Davis.
Robert grew up in East Palestine, where he graduated from East Palestine High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Robert was well-known in the restaurant business. He managed My Place Restaurant on Javit Court, where he was known for his prime rib, and John Vincent's Pub in the Southern Park Mall, where he was known for his homemade soup. Robert retired in 2002 from The Gatsby Restaurant, where he was the manager and operator. He enjoyed gardening and cooking, and spending time with friends.
Robert leaves his wife, the former Linda J. Oros, whom he married April 16, 1982; three daughters, Debra Steven Salmen of Columbiana, Nicole Eric Davis-Fairchild of Austintown and Andrea Michael Paventi of Austintown; a sister, Grace Cohen of New Middletown; two brothers, Art Jane Davis of East Palestine and Glen Davis of New Waterford; and four grandchildren, Jonathan, Stacey, Justin and Dylan.
Robert was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Duwe and Alice Gionfriddo; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Salmen.
Family and friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley and J.D.R.F.
