Canfield. . . . . Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Mr. Robert J. Eliser, Sr., 76 of Canfield who died Monday morning in St. Elizabeth Emergency Medical Center after a courage battle with cancer. Mr. Eliser was born August 8, 1927, in Youngstown a son of Eugene and Leona Kaufman Eliser. He was an Army W.W.II Veteran and a member of Trinity United Methodist Methodist Church. Robert retired December 31, 1995 from Teamsters Local 377,
where he was the secretary/treasurer the last three years. During his 28 years with the teamsters he was the only person who served every office, he was on the executive board and President of the Joint Council 41 of Cleveland; secretary/ treasurer of the Ohio Conference of Teamsters in Toledo, Ohio; the Ohio State Chairman of the Ohio Auto Carriers and was also on the National Negotiation Committee of Car Haulers in Washington, DC Prior to his employment with the teamsters he had worked 25 Years with Commercial Motor Freight as a truck driver.
Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who dearly love him and will miss him. He loved helping others and especially his family.
Besides his wife the former Rebecca Liston whom he married March 2, 1945, he leaves a daughter Judith Ann Wayne Reel of Boardman; a son Frank Marianne Eliser of Boardman; a daughter-in-law Patty Eliser of Liberty; a sister Ann E. Eliser of Boardman; 3 brothers Benjamin of Poland, Richard of Struthers and William Catherine Eliser of Youngstown; 6 grandchildren Robert and James Eliser, Catherine Jeremy Thompson, Timothy Doherty, Sara and Megan Eliser; 3 great grandchildren Kain and Logan Eliser and Isabella Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his son Robert J., Jr., 3 brothers Arthur, Eugene and Edward Eliser.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4- 8 PM at the funeral home and from 10:00 to 10:45 Am on Thursday at the funeral home.
