Robert Fabek

BOARDMAN – Prayers will be said on Friday, July 6, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary for Robert P. “Robbie” Fabek, 63, who went home to be with the Lord on Saturday night at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Robert was born on Aug. 24, 1954, in Youngstown, a son of the late Peter A. and Rose (Sammarone) Fabek.

He was a 1972 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, he attended Youngstown State University, and then he graduated from Ohio Peace Officer Base Training program.

He worked as the Director of Community Service for Juvenile Justice Center for the past 20 years. Robert previously worked for the State of Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, as an investigator.

He was part owner of The Loft, End Zone and Tiffany’s Bar and Grill. He was one of the first in Ohio to own and operate a drive thru lottery booth. Robert was actively involved in the DeBartlo Scholarship Fund, the American Cancer Society and the Heart Association.

Robert was of devout Catholic faith, attended morning Mass every day at the Shrine on Belle Vista Avenue. Robert was affiliated with the L.A. Rams of the NFL, equipment staff for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed his roundtable meeting with his uncle, Chuck and cousin Chris, traveling to his favorite destination, Paradise Island in the Bahamas, watching football, eating pizza and licorice and staying up to date on the current events.

Robert was a loving and caring man who would do anything for others. His most precious memories were spent with his family whom he cherished.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his soulmate and girlfriend of 18 years, Darlene Moses, of Boardman; his daughters, Jacquie (Paul) Kelly of Brecksville, Andrea Fabek of Liberty, Chrissy (C.K.) Mullins of Hubbard, and Brittany Moses Bates; 10 grandchildren; a brother and best friend, Mike (Denise) Fabek of Youngstown; and his cousin who helped care for him during his time of need, Debbie Sammarone of Boardman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friend may call Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Friday from 9 a.m. until prayers at 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may take form in donations to the American Heart Association or Making Kid’s Count.
