Robert Fitzgerald

AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Robert V. Fitzgerald, 95, who died Friday morning at the Hospice House.

Robert was born Feb. 10, 1916, in Youngstown, the son of Edward and Caroline O'Leary Fitzgerald.

He had worked at U.S. Steel as a scrubber for over 37 years before retiring in 1978. He was a charter member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and was a member of its men's club and its senior citizens.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lucille Peffer, whom he married Feb. 8, 1947; and many nieces and nephews, including, Gary and Linda Fitzgerald, who were his caregivers.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert V. Fitzgerald; four brothers, William, Edward, Raymond and Harry Fitzgerald; and five sisters, Dorothy Carney, Mae Mills, and Genevieve, Frances and Rita Fitzgerald.

Mr. Fitzgerald's family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Hospice House for their compassionate and loving care for Robert.

Friends may call on Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
