BOARDMAN - Prayers will begin Tuesday morning at 9:45 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Church for Robert J. Hardie, 65, who died Friday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Bob was born Nov. 30, 1948, in Youngstown, the son of William and Evelyn (Parry) Hardie.
Bob was a 1967 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and then began a career with the Erie-Lakawana / Conrail Railroad until 1985 when he began working with the Mahoning County Sanitary Engineers as a maintenance engineer, retiring in 2012. He was a member of St. Dominic Church and a longtime member of the Mahoning Valley Gaelic Society, having been honored as its Gael of the year.
He married the former Carol Brumert, May 1, 1976.
He is survived by his two daughters, Katie Hardie and Kelly (Garin) Vick, both of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Jean (Butch) Irwin of Struthers, Sarah Hardie of Boardman and Debbie (Frank) Damiano of Boardman; two brothers, William Hardie of Boardman and James (Denise) Hardie of Poland; two grandsons, Marco and Mason Vick; and a special extended family member, Karen Velasquez Clark.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Hardie and Janet McLaughlin; and two brothers, Gary and Dennis Hardie.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
