BOARDMAN Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel with Pastor Rusty Wills officiating for Robert L. McElwain, 75, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus.
Robert was born April 3, 1933 in Greenville, Pa., to the late Clarence and Mary Bell McElwain.
³Bob² attended Niles High School. He was drafted during school into the U.S. Army and served as a sergeant first class during the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2799 in New Springfield. He retired in 1998 from General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant as a sprayer in the paint department with over 28 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia Sanderson Stefan
McElwain, whom he married on St. Valentines day in 1982; two daughters, Darlene Joe Cramer of Poland, and Diann Eric Zoner of Minnesota; a son, Andrew Stefan Jr. of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Kelly, Cory, Joseph, Jenna, Mackenzie, and Olivia; and a great-grandson, Angelo.
Burial will be private at Green Haven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material donations be made tothe American Cancer Society.
