POLAND Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for Robert G. McQuown, 87, who
passed away early Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center in
Youngstown.
Robert was born Sept. 9, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of the late Lawrence S.
and Romaine (Gilmore) McQuown.
Robert was a 1947 graduate of Boardman High School and served in the U.S.
Army from 1951 to 1953. He retired in 1980 from U.S. Steel in McDonald as an
acting foreman. He also worked for his father¹s company from 1946 to 1965 at
Youngstown Perma Stone, and was a plasterer on the side.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and sports. He loved being at home and
spending time with his family. His greatest love was for his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren; he was beyond proud of them.
Robert leaves his wife, the former Mary H. Marrie, whom he married Aug. 27,
1955; a daughter, Kathleen (James) Hupp of Struthers; four sons, James
McQuown of Poland, John (Susan) McQuown of Oahu, Hawaii, Gerald (Christine
Smaldino) McQuown of Poland, and Chris McQuown of Poland; six grandchildren,
John Jr., Ben, James, Jerrod, Nicole, and Jason; and two
great-grandchildren, Connor and Kayzlee.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral
home.
