POLAND - Services will be Wednesday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, and at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church for Robert J. Nelson age 90 of Poland who passed away early Sunday morning at Shepherd of the Valley Assisted Living.
Robert was born February 23, 1915, in Youngstown, Ohio the son of Wallace and Agnes Donley Nelson.
He had worked as a crane operator for Wean United Engineering for over 43 years retiring in 1977. He was a veteran, serving in the Army during W.W.II, a member of Holy Family Church, and an avid Notre Dame fan.
His wife the former Mary Lucille McNeeley whom he married October 19, 1940, died April 13, 1994.
He is survived by two daughters Mary Eileen and husband Nick Sandru of Bradenton, Florida, and Kathleen Pavuk of Poland, two sons, James R. and wife Roseann Nelson of New Middletown, and John P. and his wife Diane Nelson of Lake Mary, Florida, a sister Grace Westhart of Coronado, California, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Beside his wife he was preceded in death by a brother Jack Nelson.
