CANFIELD - Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Christ Church Presbyterian for Mr. Robert "Bob" Nischwitz, 79, who died Tuesday evening at Shepherd of the Valley, Boardman.
He was born April 3, 1933, in Youngstown, a son of Waldemar and Dora Spatholt Nischwitz.
Bob was a 1951 graduate of Boardman High School, and graduated from Youngstown College with a degree in Business Administration.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, and made flying his career for forty seven years. He worked for several companies, and retired from the Green Leaf Corporation after 22 years of employment. He flew a wide variety of aircraft, including Learjets and Cessna 421's.
Bob was a member of the Christ Church Presbyterian, where he was an elder and on the Facilities Committee. He was also a proud member of the Youngstown Saxon Club, and in 2010 received the Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons highest award as a long time member.
He was a kind and compassionate man, who touched the lives of many.
He will be missed by his wife, the former Darlene Plowman, whom he married July 2, 1960; his son, Rob Ann Nischwitz of Canfield; and three grandchildren, Ashley, Alex and Hannah Nischwitz. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, John Nischwitz.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel and on Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the church or to the Saxon Club.
