AUSTINTOWN - Robert J. “Bob” Rider died after a nine-week battle with pancreatic cancer on Aug. 14, 2018, 22 years to the day after his wife, Pat, died.
Those who knew Bob appreciated his sense of humor and knew of his love for his family. He was well known for his oil painting, his enthusiasm for Cleveland sports teams, and his love of fishing. His favorite fishing locations were in Canada and on Pymatuning Lake, where he had a lakefront cottage.
Bob founded Glorious Homes Waterproofing in 1959, establishing the standard for indoor basement waterproofing nationwide.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James “Clay” Stefanski; his wife, Patricia; his son, Robert G. Rider; and daughter, Pamela Brown.
He leaves behind his sister, Betty Mae Lacy of Florida; daughter Jane (Dan) Cullen of New Bedford, Pa.; daughter Brenda Rider; son Matt (David) Barclay of Maryland; Sue (Randy) Jackson of Ontario, Canada; his son-in-law, Ted (Amy) Brown; 18 grandchildren: Jennifer (Steve) Onuska, Nate (Stephanie) Hamilla, Steph (Matt) Leslie, Mike and Shaun Cullen, Ashley and Brit Piper, Bob (Melinda) Rider, Beky (Scott) Gosnell, Tony Caudill, Anna and Chris Brown, Patrice Rider, Kayla Jackson, Aidan and Ciaran Barclay, Ashley (Zachary) Wilson, and Eric Sawtelle. He also leaves behind 18 great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, from 3 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Austintown.
