POLAND - Prayers will begin Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Rodney G. Latsko, 42, who died Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus, of an apparent heart attack after being stricken at his home.
Rodney was born Sept. 24, 1966 in Youngstown, the son of John K. and Monica H. Chmielewski Latsko.
He was a 1984 graduate of Poland High School and later earned his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Youngstown State University.
He began his career at The Mahoning Paint Corporation 15 years ago as a Safety Compliance Officer and Plant Manager and had been currently serving as Director of Purchasing.
He was a member of the Holy Family Church, where he participated in its men¹s renewal, and was a very avid supporter of his children¹s activities in Poland band, choir, show choir, soccer, swim and track teams.
He is survived by his wife, the former Denise ³Dee Dee² McMahon, whom he married May 2, 1987; four children, Eiryn C. Latsko, a senior nursing student at Kent State University, Isaac J. Latsko, a sophomore flight technology aviation major at Kent State University, Maeson S. Latsko, a senior at Poland Seminary High School planning to attend Kent State in the fall majoring in biotechnology, and Quynn T. Latsko, an eighth grade student at Poland Middle School who excels at soccer, band, and track. He is also survived by his mother, Niki Latsko of Poland; a brother, John K. Latsko of Los Angeles; his grandmother, Helen Chmielewski of Poland; and his brothers and sisters-in-law of the McMahon Clan and their families.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, John ³Jack² Latsko; grandparents, Tom and Peg O¹Grady; in-laws, Ken and Mary McMahon; and a sister-in-law, Susan Julian.
Rodney was known to all as an inquisitive, fascinating, and fun loving spouse, father, son and friend who never stopped thinking of others. His love and pride of his family, especially his children, outshone all of his personal accomplishments. He never missed an opportunity to express to those who knew him how much he cared. Rodney¹s passing is a great loss to all who cherished him. He will forever be missed, loved and treasured.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Rodney Latsko Memorial Fund at Farmers National Bank.
