YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Roger E. Moreland, 86, who passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Roger was born April 26, 1928, in Shreve, a son of the late Fred C. and Florence W. (Kinney) Moreland.
Roger served in the U.S. Navy as a Seamen first class serving on a mine sweeper in the Korean conflict. Roger worked as a computer programmer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. After his retirement, Roger was a programmer for five years at a bank in Hermitage, Pa. He enjoyed golfing, tennis and running.
Roger leaves his wife, the former Eloise McCarty; two sons, Roger P. Moreland of Youngstown and Mark Moreland of Marietta, Ga.; a stepson, Joseph Talmon of Hilton Head, S.C.; three grandchildren, Mark, McKenzie, and William; a brother, Ronald Moreland of Cotati, Calif.; and his former wife, Audrey Scavina of Marietta.
Roger was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty, Janet, and Marilyn.
Family and friends may pay their respects Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
