HERMITAGE, PA. - Prayers will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Stephen Popovich at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown for Ronald G. Farran, 72, who passed away Sunday at his home.
Ronald was born May 2, 1937 in Youngstown, the son of George and Marie Susa Farran.
Ronald was a 1955 graduate of South High School. In high school, he had his own band called the "Kingsmen" and also played with Jack Lewis Orchestra. Ronald was a veteran of the Army National Guard. Ronald was an engineer for Conrail for 32 years, retiring in 1999. Prior to Conrail, he worked for Commercial Shearing and Stamping for 14 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Sharon and Lake Milton. He was also a member of the Shenango Yacht Club. Ronald enjoyed boating and water skiing.
His greatest love was for his family, especially spending time with his grandsons.
Ronald leaves his wife, Sandra Henik, whom he married April 30, 1960; a son, Mark Ronald Farran of Austintown; a daughter, Genine Jack Brooks of Ellwood City; a sister, Maureen Anthony Gutierrez of Canfield; and three grandsons, Isaac, Nathan and Joel Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Georgia Turek; and a grandson, Benjamin Brooks.
Friends are invited to join Ronald's family for a gathering in a celebration of his life Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
