LAKE MILTON - A memorial service will be held on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Pricetown United Methodist Church for Ronald Malmfeldt, 60, who passed away Saturday evening at his home with his family by his side, following a courageous nine month battle with cancer.
Ron was born April 18, 1953, in Boardman, a son of the late Einar "Wally" and Betty (Schafer) Malmfeldt.
Ron was a 1971 graduate of Jackson Milton High School. He was a truck driver for W. Pollock Trucking Inc., where he met his dear friend, Ray, who he called "driver." He loved music, boating on Lake Milton and spending time with his family and friends. He created life long memories with his best friends, Louie Bartlett and Tom Edwards and enjoyed teasing his friend and neighbor, Shelia Klegg. His greatest love was for his grandchildren, they were the light of his life. Ron will always be remembered for his generosity and kindness to everyone he met.
Ron leaves his beloved wife, the former Cathy Long, whom he married June 1, 1973; his daughter, Kelly Sites; granddaughter, Kayla Malmfeldt of Lake Milton; a son, Ronnie Malmfeldt; grandson Landon Malmfeldt of Boardman; and his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Long of Austintown. Ron also leaves a brother, Carl Malmfeldt.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Fonda Pittman and a brother, Terry Malmfeldt.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff, especially the staff on 2 East of Robinson Memorial Hospital for providing all their love, support and kindness. Also a special thank you to family and friends and to Dr. Mubashir, Dr. Marquinez and Dr. Rehman and their staff, as well as the numerous friends/patients he met while undergoing chemotherapy in their office.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to the Pricetown United Methodist Church for the G.S.
