Ronald P. Theis

Mr Ronald Paul Theis went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, February 24, 2024. He was 87 years old.  

Born to the late Fred and Katherine Theis on July 23, 1936. 

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Edward, Howard, William, and Robert, and his two sisters, Eleanor Hitter and Sophie Estok. 

Ron leaves his wife of 64 years, Carol Dempesis Theis whom he married May 7, 1960; his two daughters, Lou Ann Mastrangelo and Karen (Clint) Diehl; four grandsons, Anthony Mastrangelo, Joe (Alyssa) Mastrangelo, Derek and Brian Diehl; and his sister, Donna Dorn.

Ron was a registered Pharmacist for more then 50 years. He owned and operated Theis Pharmacy in Niles, Ohio. He then sold the store and worked for Rite Aid and most recently Medi Rx before retiring.

Ron loved bowling at the family alley and golfing. A true patriarch, Ron enjoyed spending time with and helping family and friends.  Every birthday his only gift request was for his family to be together. 

From years of working side by side with his brothers, Ron was a skilled carpenter who fixed everything along his path.  His coffee cup read, “If Papa can’t fix it, no one can”. Ron was a firm believer in Christ and his last 7 years his mission was to make 500 wooden crosses to let people know the love of Christ. NBC News broadcasted a story on him in 2020. But God had a bigger plan and Ron finished with more than 1,500 crosses that found homes across the United States and a few went international. 

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark’s Victory Lutheran Church, 280 Mill Creek Dr, Youngstown, Ohio on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 12:00 PM. Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark’s Victory Lutheran Church, where it held a special place in his heart. Serving as president and deacon for many years.
