YOUNGSTOWN - Military services will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, for Ronald Lee Papke, 62, who died peacefully at his residence.
Ronald was born May 26, 1947, in Youngstown to the Late William E. and Florence E. Whistler Papke.
Ronald was a former member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a 1964 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and a 1966 graduate of the Data Processing Institute of Youngstown. He was an avid reader and history buff.
Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, starting his training at the Great Lakes Navel Training Center, and serving at Reykjavik Iceland, Paris Island, and Camp Lejeune. He was an expert marksman, able to disassemble and assemble his weapon blindfolded, but the Navy decided to made him a corpsman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William E. Papke Jr.
Ronald is survived by a sister, Darlene Carl Burman of Youngstown; and two nieces, Heather and Hiedi.
Burial will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
