Ronald Pierce

May 28, 1938 — January 5, 2016

POLAND - Ronald F. Pierce passed away on Tuesday morning at Hospice House, following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Pierce, affectionately known as "Ron," was born on May 28, 1938, in Youngstown, son of the late Frank and Emma (Clemt) Pierce.

Ron was a 1956 graduate of Boardman High School. Following high school graduation, he began working for Islay's, and later worked for Foerster Systems as a Project Engineer, retiring in 1998 after 47 years of service.

He was a member of the Holy Family Church.

Ron was known for his perfect yard. His greatest joy was cutting his grass with his red tractor. He also took great pride in caring for roses in his garden.

He was actively involved in Poland Baseball, and held many patents for his engineering background.

Ron will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, the former Carol Kiefer, whom he married on Oct. 10, 1959.

He is also survived by his two children, Darla (Mark) Pierce-Luscombe of Boardman and Gary Pierce of Poland; two sisters, Mary Lou, and Joanne; and two grandchildren, Cory Luscombe and Karah Pierce.

Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Vicki Pierce.

Following Ronald's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A committal service will take place at noon, on Monday, Jan. 11, at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Ron's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice House for their compassionate care of Ron, and requests that material tributes be made in his name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.

Arrangements of comfort and care are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
