CANFIELD - Prayers will begin Friday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Church for Rose Marie Griffiths, 81, who died peacefully Monday evening at Hospice House surrounded by her family.
Rose Marie was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Toronto, Ohio, to Peter C. and Pauline (Rock) Smith.
She was a 1949 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and attended Youngstown State University. Rose Marie was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family, and helping others.
She spent many years volunteering at Fellow Riverside Gardens, Akron Children's Hospital, Hospice of the Valley, and the Monday Musical Society. Rose Marie also helped as a crisis line helper for Help Hotline and a docent at the Butler Institute of Art Museum.
Rose Marie is survived by her husband, Frank H. Griffiths, whom she married in October of 1954; a daughter, Nancy (Greg) Zaitzew of Boardman; two sons, Alan (Kimberly) Griffiths of Columbus and Frank S. (Nancy) Griffiths of Northville, Mich.; a brother, Gene P. Smith of Youngstown; and seven grandchildren, Frank E. and Brian Griffiths of Northville, Joseph, David and Casey Zaitzew of Boardman, and Leah and Alan R. Griffiths of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
