Boardman . . Services will be at 10:30 Am on Thursday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman -Canfield Chapel and a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel Venglarik at 11:00 Am in St. Charles Church, Boardman for Mrs. Rose Pallotta age 99, who died Sunday evening at her home following a short illness.
Rose was born April 29, 1907 in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy and emigrated to the United States in 1910 with her mother, Filomena Pallotta and they rejoined her father, Santucci Pallotta, in Youngstown.
She graduated from South High School in 1925 and began her 47 year career with the Strauss-Hershberg Department store in downtown Youngstown. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing both for pleasure and for profit.
Rose married Dominic Pallotta in 1928 at Mount Carmel Church. She was a legendary cook, and no family gathering was complete without desserts from her kitchen, no Christmas Eve without her 7 fish dinner.
Rose was an active member of The Ladies Bagnolese Club, The Italmar Club, and Saint Charles Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her two sisters Adeline DeBartolo of Poland and Violet Pallotta that lived with her and 2 god daughters Carole Sutherland of Cleveland and Sandra Petraccoro of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Dominic who died July 26, 1982 and two sisters Carmel Stevens and Dolly Reichard and her brother Albert Pallotta.
Friend may call Wednesday from 5:00 -8:00 pm at the funeral home.
