POLAND-Friends may call from 5 PM to 8 PM Wednesday evening at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Roseann Wilkes age 84 of Poland
who passed away early Monday morning at Beeghly Oaks Care Center. Roseann was
born April 26, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Elmer J. and Mary Ann
Downie Berger. She was a homemaker, a member of Fonderlac Country Club, Angels
for Easter Seals, the Youngstown Symphony Guild, and was past president of the
Mahoning County Bar Associations Ladies Auxiliary.
Her husband Atty. Bernard J. Wilkes Jr. whom she married in 1949 died August
22, 1991.
She is survived by a daughter Pam Steve Zimmer of Poland, a son Atty. Larry
Wilkes of Boardman, a daughter-in-law, Ruth Wilkes of Columbus, a sister, Eileen
Merz of Canfield, eight grandchildren Courtney Bailey, Ashley Wilkes,
Christopher Wilkes, Derek Wilkes, B.J. Wilkes, Laural Alan Zoldan, Amy Steve
Barnes, and Zach Zimmer, five great-grandchildren, Lexi, Liyah, Laney, Sydney
and Dylan, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Atty.
Bernard J. Wilkes III, two sisters, Peggy Phillips, Helen Lindic, and two
brothers Charles and James Berger.
Private family funeral services will take place on Thursday.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to
Hospice of the Valley in Roseann's memory.
Roseann's family would also like to thank the 1100 nursing staff at Beeghly
Oaks and the staff of Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care.
