YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church in Canfield for Rosemary "Peppy" Shelar, 78, who passed away Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Peppy was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of Anthony and Mamie DeNoi Jacola Sr.
Peppy graduated from The Rayen School. She was a secretary for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She helped with her class reunions and always enjoyed attending them. She also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Frank Sinatra, where on one of her trips to Vegas she had a chance to meet him.
Her husband, David "Jack" Shelar, whom she married Feb. 2, 1957, passed away June 7, 2003.
Peppy leaves a sister, Frances "Dolly" Morrow of Canfield; a brother, Anthony "Jake" Virginia Jacola Jr. of Mineral Ridge; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy "Teeny" Uhlar and Philomena "Mena" Craig; and two brothers, Michael and Joseph Jacola.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to the local MS Society and the St. Michael Family Life Center.
