Ross Luce

BOARDMAN - Prayers will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Ross Thomas "Ruby" Luce, 98, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010.
He was born March 24, 1913 in Windber, Pa., a son of Thomas and Frances Liguori Luce, and had lived in the Youngstown, Poland, and Lowellville areas for over nine decades.
Mr. Luce retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube in 1975 as a general foreman and had been a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Poland, Ohio since 1960 and the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville.
His wife, the former Catherine Manna, whom he married Jan. 27, 1934, died July 11, 1982.
He is survived by a son, Ross Margie Luce of Melbourne, Fla.; a daughter, Frances "BeBe" Thomas Fortunato of Poland; five grandchildren, Ross Julie Luce Jr. of Pittsburgh, Thomas Donna Fortunato II of Powell, David Lisa Ross of Orange Park, Fla., Mark Fortunato of Poland and Christine Jeff Young of Columbus; and 11 great-grandchildren, Justin Smith, Allison Fortunato, Maria Fortunato, Jonathan Young, Zachary Fortunato, Thomas Fortunato III, Nicholas Luce, Matthew Young, Benjamin Luce, Jillian Luce, and Katherine Luce.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his sisters, Nicolina "Goldie" Sainato, Helen Sainato, Theresa "Daisy" D'Andrea and Sarah "Tootsie" Colaneri; his brothers, Carmen Luce and Sammy Luce; his half-sisters, Ann Garsh, Mary Pugliese, and Rose Salentre; and a half-brother, Joseph Caparbi.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Greenbriar Healthcare Center of Boardman for their care and compassion.
