AUSTINTOWN ? Private services were held for Russell J. Cox, 94, of Liberty Arms Assisted Living, who died Tuesday morning, at Liberty Health Care Center.
Russell was born in Youngstown, on May 18, 1916, to the late Peter and Janette Mayhew Cox.
He was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown. He was a conductor on the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad for 35 years, and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Retirement.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Irma B. Cox, whom he married Oct. 7, 1977, she died Oct. 3, 2002. He was also preceded by a great-granddaughter, Emily Clark; four sisters, Mary Katherine Murdoch, Halda Cox, Ethelyn Cox and Arlene Christoff; four brothers, Edward Cox, Gerald Cox, James Cox and Frank Cox; and two step-sons; Norman Myers and Philip Myers.
Russell is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Bert Cheseldine of Maryland, Jan Buzz Belleville of Hubbard and Meg DiMauro of Colorado; a son, Russell Cox of Michigan; mother of his children, Sarah Cox of Hubbard; 11 grandchildren, Saundra Cheseldine, Joseph Cheseldine, Kelley Jeff Clark, Mark Laura Belleville, Douglas Julie Belleville, Donna Don DiCicco, Colleen Jim Fradenburgh, Karen Ryan Terwilliger, Sara Johnston, Jamie DiMauro and Dominic DiMauro, 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Rispinto of California; stepdaughter Irma Jean Joseph Gabrick of Austintown; two stepsons Stephen Donald Myers of Massachusetts and Dennis Holly Myers of Florida; 13 stepgrandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.
