NORTH LIMA - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 4, 2016, at noon, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Youngstown for Mrs. Ruth A. Montella Falconi Eddy, 92, who died peacefully Sunday evening at Assumption Village.
Born March 4, 1923, in Youngstown, a daughter of Stephen and Mary (Kuntz) Montella, Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Youngstown State University.
She had worked at the family business, Montella's Isaly, on the east side. She was a charter member of St. Joseph Church, Austintown, and was involved there with the Altar and Rosary Society and Garden Club. Later, a member of the Holy Family Church, Poland, and finally, St. Patrick's Youngstown, Ruth was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Belonging to several card clubs and being an avid follower of politics, Ruth's greatest joy was her family. She was an excellent cook, baker and food enthusiast, collecting cookbooks and recipes from around the world.
She married Joseph R. Falconi Sr. on April 10, 1944, and they had five children, three daughters, Judith (Joseph) Magielski of Boardman, Nancy (George) Sinchak of Austintown, and Mary Rose (James) Zirkel of Antioch, Calif.; and two sons, Joseph R. Falconi Jr. of Middlefield and David J. (Karen) Falconi of Hubbard.
Her husband Joseph died Nov. 25, 1970. Ruth then married Francis J. Eddy on April 20, 1974, and he died March 15, 2004.
She leaves three sisters, Louise Cerny of Youngstown, Mary Rita DePietro of California, and Geraldine (Paul) Damore of Austintown; one brother, Joseph (Barbara) Montella of Campbell; nine grandchildren, Joseph Jr. and Stanley (Melissa) Magielski, Ann (Josh) Weinberger, Laurie (Franco) Carusone, Gregory (Clarissa) Sinchak, Lynne (C.J.) Tyree, Joseph Falconi III, Katherine and Gregory Zirkel; and seven great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and two sisters, Josephine Javorsky and Delores Meranto.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can to be made in memory of Ruth to Assumption Village.
The family thanks the staff for their caring and compassion.
Friends may call Friday from 10 until 11:45 a.m. at the church.
Ruth will enter her eternal life on her birthday and will be buried at Calvary Cemetery.
