YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church for Ruth M. Brajkovich, 84, who died Saturday evening at the Greenbriar.
Ruth was born June 18, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of Louis K. and Anna V. Buchanan Daus.
She had worked as a cashier at the ACME grocery in Youngstown as a young woman and was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.
Her husband, John L. Brajkovich, whom she married Feb. 17, 1945, died April 4, 1991.
She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Gallagher of Canfield and Ruth A. David Humphrey of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Blanche "Bunny" Robert Herman of Ridgeland, S.C.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Pete Ostapiak, Donald Lisa Craig Jr., John Sara Craig, Julie Randy Brainard and James Humphrey; 10 great-grandchildren, Eric, Chelsea, Anna, Lauren, Devon, Gabriel, Lucy, Noah, Chloe and Benjamin; and several nieces and nephews, including Louis K. Debby Daus.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Lawrence Gallagher Jr,; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Sedmak; three sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Gallaugher, Ethel and Emma Daus; and two brothers, Herman and Louis Daus.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to either St. Vincent de Paul Society or Hospice of the Valley in Ruth's memory.
